Artist Katie Bell, strives to push the limits of what is considered to be painting practice by using “domestic materials” and deciding what to hide and what to reveal to create these abstract pieces of art.”Domestic material considered as painting language is the common thread within my work. I am interested in the ways home surfaces (carpet, wallpaper, linoleum, granite, vinyl, paneling, etc.) relate to abstraction and how interior decoration relates to painting.”
